General Preparation for Every Breathwork Session
Wear Comfortable Clothing
Choose loose, breathable layers that allow your body to relax fully while lying down or seated. Comfort supports deeper relaxation and emotional release.
Hydrate Well
Drink plenty of water before and after your breathwork session to support your body’s natural process of release and integration.
Eat Light
Have a small, nourishing meal one to two hours before your session. Avoid heavy foods or stimulants like caffeine so your body can focus on breathing, not digestion.
Arrive with an Open Mind
Come just as you are. Every breathwork experience is unique. The best approach is to stay curious, open, and willing to let go of expectations.
Optional: Bring a Journal
After your session, journaling can help you integrate what you experienced. Take a few quiet moments to note any sensations, emotions, or insights that surfaced.
Preparing for an In-Person Session
If you’re joining us in person at Confluence Breath & Bodywork, here’s how to set yourself up for comfort and calm:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes early to settle in and ground your energy.
- Bring your own yoga mat, blanket, and eye mask (optional but encouraged).
- A small pillow or bolster can add support under your knees or head.
- While tissues and water are available, bringing your own ensures you have everything you need.
- If you enjoy aromatherapy, essential oils such as lavender, peppermint, or frankincense can enhance your breathwork experience when used mindfully.
We aim to create a peaceful, safe space where you can release, reconnect, and recharge—fully supported by your breath and our guidance.

Preparing for an Online (Zoom) Breathwork Session
If you’re joining a virtual breathwork class from home, set up your space with intention:
- Choose a quiet, private area where you won’t be disturbed.
- Lay out a yoga mat, rug, or bed for comfort, and keep a blanket or cushion nearby.
- Use headphones or an external speaker for immersive sound quality.
- Have tissues, a light blanket, or socks nearby for comfort.
- Essential oils can help you ground, focus, or release emotion.
- Download and open Zoom ahead of time; log in a few minutes early to settle in before we begin.
A mindful setup helps create a sacred space—even from home—so you can drop deeply into your practice.

During Your Session
Each session is guided and tailored to your needs. You may experience deep relaxation, emotional release, or moments of clarity as energy begins to move.
Breathwork
You’ll be guided through a rhythmic breathing pattern while lying down. Expect waves of calm, tingling sensations, or emotional shifts as your body releases tension.
Reiki
During Reiki, you’ll sit or lie down fully clothed while energy is gently balanced throughout your system. Many clients describe feelings of warmth, peace, or lightness.
Yin Yoga
Long-held, restorative poses invite you to soften into stillness. This meditative practice stretches deep connective tissues and complements the breathwork journey beautifully.
After Your Breathwork Session
When your session ends, take time to rest and integrate.
Drink water, stretch gently, or write in your journal about anything that surfaced.
The benefits of breathwork often continue unfolding in the hours or days afterward—bringing balance, insight, and renewed energy.
Final Thought
Your breathwork session is a time to come home to yourself — to pause, reflect, and reset. A few moments of thoughtful preparation can enhance the experience, helping you feel safe and supported throughout your journey.
